mmajunkie.com reports that Anderson Silva’s elbow is slow to heal and that he will be unable to fight against Vitor Belfort at their rumored bout at UFC 109.
Anderson had surgery in October to remove bone chips from his elbow and his recovery is taking longer than expected. Anderson’s manager, Ed Soares, stated that Anderson will want to return at 100%.
Much is argued about whether or not Vitor deserves a title shot, as their are many tough people in the middle weight division that he should have to face first.
As reported by John Morgan of www.mmajunkie.com light heavyweight Mark Coleman (16-9 MMA, 7-4 UFC) is now official for a UFC 109 matchup with fellow UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture (17-10 MMA, 14-7 UFC).
MMA Authentics, who sponsors Coleman, today confirmed “The Hammer” had signed his bout agreement for the Feb. 6 contest.
Coleman and Couture were scheduled to fight 11 years ago at “UFC 17: Redemption,” and die hard mma fans have been waiting to see these two in the cage ever since.]
According to AOL Fanhouse, Georges “Rush” St. Pierre will defend his Welterweight Title against Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy. The Event will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. in March 2010.
Georges St. Pierre, known by many as a top pound for pound fighter in the world, is on a 6 fight winning streak.
The most impressive aspect of GSP’s winning streak is he has consistently fought against the top fighters in the welterweight division. GSP has fought and won dominantly against the likes of Matt Hughes, BJ Penn, Thiago Alves, and John Fitch to name a few.
Video – Wanderlei Silva talks about his UFC 110 bout with Michael Bisping on 02/21/10. Also, Mike Whitehead speaks in regards to his upcoming fight vs Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at Strikeforce: Evolution on 12/19/09.
If you follow MMA you know Wanderlei is an incredible fighter. This is a great opportunity for Bisping to move up the ranks in the Middleweight division, as a victory over fighting sensation Wanderlei Silva is weighed very heavily. At the same time, Wanderlei has the opportunity to move one step closer to a middleweight title shot with Anderson Silva.
What was said to be very serious seems to be not so serious. Brock Lesnars camp claims that it will take at least 6 months for the “reincarnation of Brock Lesnar”. Lesnars Brazilian jiu jitsu coach talked to TMZ stating “I can just say that the heavyweights can stop laughing and all start crying because the champion will be back soon”. considering the fact that no heavyweight including Shane Carwin or Frank Mir was laughing at the champs illness and were in fact hoping for a speedy recovery, that statement makes no sence at all but I can guarantee that any UFC heavyweight will be ready. Either way Lesnars camp seems to be using tactics to keep Lesnar in the picture with releasing a Brock Lesnar ”Reincarnation” video. This video is more like a statement to the rest of the UFC heavyweight division saying “Lesnar may have got sick but when he comes back, he comes back reincarnated”. Sounds scary to me. Maybe a more technical Lesnar? We shall see. Check out the reincarnation video below.
