Fedor Emilianenko: Still one of the best heavyweights in MMA

Fedor Emilianenko: Still one of the best heavyweights in MMA

It’s rare to come across a fighter that can take a loss a with humility; Fedor Emilianenko did just that. He made some mistakes in his fight with Fabricio Werdum, and he was beat fair and square. He had my respect before this fight, since he had been practically undefeated, but my respect for him has grown since his loss. He took the loss like a man, and a true fighter. His quote about those that never fall never stand up, was a great quote. It’s one that many people should keep in mind. Of course we all strive to win every fight we go into, but the truth of the matter is, anything can happen, and we may lose. Fedor is truly standing up, and standing tall, even after falling in his loss. Many people could stand to learn from his example- give your opponent the credit they deserve, dont knock them, and learn from your own mistakes. Werdum may have submitted him, but in my mind, Fedor is still one of the absolute top heavyweights in MMA. So he took a loss? Is that really so bad? Many fighters take many more losses than he has. I’m not disappointed with that fight. It was a great win for Werdum, and his wonderful Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was great to watch. But in the end, it was Fedor and his graceful attitude that sealed the deal. Great fight.

It’s hard for me to like Fedor Emilianenko! This guy feels he’s a bigger brand than the UFC,for him to loose last night to Fabricio Werdum,a guy the UFC cut loose. This is a bad mark on his record and his claim to be the #1 Heavyweight in the world.I for one felt that Werdum would catch him in a submisssion, and defeat FEDOR.Fedor was very distant throughout the week leading up to the fight.STRIKEFORCE was already planning a Fedor / Overeem PPV,so all this was alot for even Fedor to contain.I don’t feel Fedor was gracious in his lost,so we all should stand and clap for him.Fedor is the same guy,who tried to strong arm the UFC.Fedor is the same guy,who force STRIKEFORCE to change his fight deal in order for this fight to happen. So I say before we honor Fedor for losing, lets look at the whole picture. This guy has avoided fighting the best,to be called the best.Fedor isn’t a hero,he’s a cheater.Fedor has cheated the MMA world out of a Showdown between he and The UFC’s Brock Lesnar. So Fedor isn’t a Hero in my book.

Fedor was like an insanely overdue slot machine and i think fighters were more and more aware all the time. Everyone looses at some point. Is it repeatable by Werdum or can Fedor answer back?

Itll take 3 back to back victories to make this look like an undisputable fluke. I hope Fedor fights till he gets Overeem. Fedor needs to stay strong mentally, modify strategies and weather this humanization. Its amazing Fedor didnt make an excuse for this one or the weak cut stoppage many years ago. I think there should be a motion to strike off the cut stoppage from his early years.
