Dave Meltzer is reporting that Joe Stevenson has suffered a knee injury in training and will be forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Takanori Gomi at UFC Live on Versus 2. Tyson Griffin will fill in and face “The Fireball Kid” instead.
It’s unfortunate that Stevenson will be out however Griffin will ensure that it is still an exciting fight.
Gomi made his UFC debut in March against Kenny Florian at UFC Fight Night 21, losing via rear naked choke. Griffin himself is also coming off of a loss. He recently faced Evan Dunham at UFC 115 dropping a decision to a fellow Xtreme Couture fighter.
UFC Live on Versus 2 will take place on August 1st in San Diego, CA.
