Mark Hominick will fight Jose Aldo with a win against George Roop at UFC Fight for the Troops 2

by Adam Lawman

Today on the conference call for UFC Fight for the Troops 2, Dana White confirmed with reporters that Mark Hominick would in fact be the first challenger for the new UFC featherweight title and it’s champion Jose Aldo.

The only problem is that Hominick must first defeat George Roop, a man who dropped a zombie with a head kick. Now sure, the zombie wasn’t the real living dead however Chang Sung Jung is a zombie in that he can absorb some damage and still keep trucking though a Roop head kick does not fall under that list.

Roop with a record of 11-6 isn’t the highest ranked fighter today but he is definitely someone who can end your night quickly yet that is also a factor that has obviously worked against him as well.

Either way, Hominick will have a lot on the line which is always grounds for an upset to take place. No matter the outcome though the fight is sure to be a thrilling action-packed brawl. Hominick will decide his own fate. A win will earn him a chance for the title at the largest indoor MMA event in North America but a loss will relegate him to preliminary status or keep him on these smaller cards. Also with a loss, UFC head honcho Dana White says they will “have to go back to the drawing board” to reevaluate the featherweight division.
