Tonight “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz, who had not won a fight in 6 years stepped into the octagon as an underdog against Ryan Bader. He was told by his boss Dana White that a loss would result in his termination from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Dana White also mentioned in an interview with Ariel Helwani amongst others earlier in the week that Tito Ortiz performs at his best when his back is against the wall.
Tonight when Tito Ortiz stepped into the cage with 13-1 Ryan Bader he was outmatched. Popular opinion was that Bader had the edge in strength, wrestling, striking and honestly other than cardio and experience most aspects of the game. Tito Ortiz shocked the world with a submission (guillotine choke) win tonight against Ryan Bader. This win came at a time when Ortiz was out of life lines. It was literally sink or swim tonight. Ortiz not only beat top contender Ryan Bader, he also won the Submission of the night bonus for 75k. Tito Ortiz was the longest reining Champion in the Light Heavyweight Division and a pioneer for the sport in several areas. Love him or hate him, “THE HUNTINGTON BEACH BAD BOY” IS BACK!!!
