Tonight marked the historic UFC on FOX inaugural event and even though the night’s main event featuring Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez stole the spotlight; there was another fight on the card with a lot at steak as well. Tonight, Clay Guida and Benson Henderson slugged it out for 3 long rounds; with the victor Henderson earning a title shot against Frankie Edgar in the UFC’s 155lbs lightweight division. Henderson used every tool in his arsenal tonight to defeat Clay Guida. Benson was able to utilize his striking; almost knocking out Clay Guida, his Jiu Jitsu, controlling Guida in multiple rounds with a nasty triangle body lock and nearly securing a rear naked choke on multiple occasions and Benson also showed incredible wrestling technique. Benson was able to nullify most of Guida’s take down attempts and when Benson was taken down, he was able to pop up almost instantly, or to reverse the position and gain control on the ground. Henderson showed an incredible arsenal and that he is truly well rounded tonight. He is now 15-2 with 3 consecutive victories in the UFC. Henderson has now earned a title shot against current UFC 155lbs Champion Frankie Edgar who has a record of 14-1-1 and has not suffered a defeat in his last 7 UFC fights.
