After a controversial loss tonight at UFC 143, Nick Diaz announced his retirement from MMA. Perhaps, it was more emotion and being frustrated than fact and Nick Diaz will not actually retire. On the other hand, Diaz had a point. After forcing his opponent to go backwards the entire fight and landing more power shots, Diaz lost a unanimous decision and the chance to be named the UFC welterweight interim champion. Post fight Diaz was extremely respectful of his opponent and the new welterweighht interim champion Carlos Condit, “Carlos is a great guy, I’m happy for him and his fmaily; I think I’m done with this MMA. It’s been great out here, I’ve had a great career.”
Diaz was extremely upset the with judges decision and when asked by Joe Rogan if he was serious about retirement Diaz replied ”I don’t need this sh*t…If that was the way they understand, I don’t want to play this game no more.” When Joe Rogan concluded the interview by telling Diaz he hoped that he would reconsider, Nick replied, “I’ll help ouy my team, my brother and everyone else, but I’m out of this shit.”
