Fox Issues Apology for Chael Sonnen’s Comment on Rihanna

Last night on Fox Sports 1’s show entitled Fox Sports Live, UFC Fighter/Host Chael Sonnen made a remark that was deemed offensive to many.  Sonnen made a remark about the Singer Rihanna, becoming rich and famous for being beaten up by a wimp.  Although, the comment was an attempt at humor and Chael did not intend to be offensive or to emotional harm other’s, the comment was still offensive and Fox was forced to respond.  Below, are both the apology issued by Fox and the original statement issued by Chael.  Please leave comments below with weather or not you feel this was offensive and if society is right for taking notice, or have we become “soft” and unable to take a joke?

“FOX Sports regrets the comments Chael Sonnen made during last night’s edition of FOX Sports Live. They were an inappropriate attempt at humor that Sonnen acknowledges shouldn’t have been made and he apologizes to anyone who may have been offended by his remarks.”

Original Joke/Offensive remark from Chael Sonnen

“Look, Floyd (Mayweather) needs to keep doing what he’s doing, which is fighting complete tomato cans that we’ve never heard of before. I’ve never seen anybody in the history of America get so rich and so famous off of having complete wimps throwing punch at their faces. I know what you’re saying. You’re saying, ‘Well, it’s happened before, what about Rihanna?’ … Too soon? Was it too soon?”
