Florian on the judging of Lawler vs. Condit: “You have to look at it round by round, not the statistics.”

Los Angeles – The following quotes and videos are from tonight’s FS1 UFC 195 POSTFIGHT SHOW on FS1 hosted by Karyn Bryant, with Daniel Cormier, Kenny Florian and Tyron Woodley providing analysis. Ariel Helwani conducted interviews.

FOX UFC analyst Daniel Cormier on Robbie Lawler’s title defense: “It seems like he’s so comfortable in there, he never strays from his game plan. He did enough to win. I thought he should have turned it up a little bit more. It was a close fight.”

FOX UFC analyst Kenny Florian on the decision going to Lawler compared to the overall strikes statistics: “We thought Carlos Condit was leading the dance. Who was landing the more powerful punches? Lawler. But Condit was constantly confusing him with his variety.  They were talking about the volume of strikes, but you have to look at it round by round, not the statistics.”

FOX UFC analyst Tyron Woodley on Carlos Condit: “Let me catch my breath, this was a great fight. It was a tough fight to score. Carlos Condit has the strongest chin in the whole division. It’s a gift I don’t have. But Lawler’s sense of urgency at the end was perfect. It won the fight.”

Lawler on what he was thinking going into the fifth round: “The fight was close. I thought I won rounds 2 and 5. Carlos is a heck of a competitor. It was an honor to fight him.”

Lawler on how he was fighting Condit: “I was trying to go strike for strike with him. He’s a technical fighter. He runs in a lot and I wanted to catch him. I needed to push forward in the fifth and that’s what I did. My corner said go out there and press him. I went out and forced a battle. He’s tough. I landed some big shots. He’s amazing.”

Lawler on if he wants a rematch with Condit: “The UFC is going to tell me what to do. I’m just going to try to get better and improve.”

Lawler on what he was trying to do in the fifth round: “I wanted to knock him out.”

Lawler on if Georges St-Pierre comes back: “If he wants to come back, I’m ready. I’m going to concentrate on myself and get better.”

Florian on judging between Lawler and Condit: “It’s really tough to get a hold of what these judges are looking for. Sometimes they’re looking for something flashy or who’s moving forward, or who’s landing something? We don’t know.”

Woodley on if Lawler should rematch Condit: “These rematches, we’ve seen these every other weekend. We really don’t need to see another rematch. I’m over them. Someone else should get to fight Lawler and Condit can win one and get right back in there.”

Florian on if there should be a Lawler – Condit rematch: “Are you crazy? They’re going to do a rematch. That fight sells itself.”

Woodley on why he should get a title shot over Condit: “Condit doesn’t have the threat of wrestling and takedowns. He doesn’t have the speed. I have way more power than him. I’m hungry. I’ve been sitting at the door, trying to get a bite and a bone. Styles make fights and I think my style matches up against anyone in the welterweight division.”

Cormier on Stipe Miocic knocking out Andrei Arlovski: “Stipe is a beast. We knew this was a tough matchup for Andrei. The overhand right that landed on the ear did it. That dude will be fighting for a championship and rightly so. He’s earned it.”

Woodley on Arlovski losing: “Andrei doesn’t have the chin of Mark Hunt and Junior Dos Santos, who Stipe beat before him.”

Stipe Miocic on winning the fight: “I’ve had a rough couple of weeks. It’s great to have something good come out of all of this. I’ve got a lot going on.”

Miocic on what he shouted to UFC President Dana White: “I said: ‘I want my shot.’ I was jacked. I’m here to win. I think I did enough for the shot.”

Miocic on if he’d rather fight Werdum or Velasquez: “It doesn’t matter. I want the shot and I know I can do it. I’m taking that belt back to Cleveland.”
